Dear New Life Family,

We just want to send out this email and give you some updates and resources you can use during this time of separation from gathering together.

Our hope is that during this time of isolation it will not be a time to shrink back but a time for us all to work on our relationship with the Lord and hopefully when this time has come to an end we might all celebrate together the things that we have learned and how we have grown.

The following links are some of the resources that we fill would be helpful during this time we hope that you would take advantage of this time and though we may not be able to connect in person hopefully we will connect with each other thorough all the means that we have available to.

  1. Phone calls
  2. Skpe, facetime, whatsapp, texting, email,

So let us continue to CONNECT with each other and with the Lord.

Let us continue to GROW. We are sharing these link with the hope during this time we will all continue to GROW.

These links are for the whole church family and will be on our webpage so that you'll be able to click and go to the sites that we list below.

We have complete confidence in RightNow Media and would encourage you to take advantage of it. RightNow Media is available to all of our church family if you need help login in let us know but there is lots of resources there for you. We are looking at some of the material to see if there is studies we can do as a whole church together. We will try to update this list as time goes on.

For families here is a link for veggie tales online Veggie Tales Full Episodes.  For families with children, Open Life Church Resources is a site for having a complete service with your kids.  We will continue to update the list as we move forward.

Let us also continue to SERVE and help with the needs of some of our family. If you are able to help drop off food or things needed to those that are in isolation or make phone calls to check in on people. We would love for you to suggest things that we can go as a family to help all of us to connect and grown and serve and reach with the message of Christ.

The following is some suggestions from Pastor Bob for parents to do with their families during this time:

There will be a temptation to put them in front of screens but I would encourage you to limit that time at the least with doing some of the following. Parents children need to see that you don't know how to do things and watch as you struggle to learn how to do something you have never done. Most things can now be learned by doing an internet search for the needed instructions

1. Establish a routine that is close to the school routine. Don't give in to the temptation of changing bedtimes and wake up times. You will only be creating problems when life gets back to "normal".

2. Get your kids to tell you a bible story, help them along the way by finding it in the Bible. Hint Google the story if you don't know where it is found

3. Tell a bible story and then get the kids to act it out or tell it back to you. You can do a craft about the bible story.

4. Children need to go outside everyday. Create a snow fort, or snow sculpture. Go for a walk in the bush and have a fire to cook food. Roast some Marshmallows. Listen to the Birds. Go Out after dark and Look at the stars. There are apps to Help you to know what you are looking at. Is it a planet or a star or a satellite?

5. Do some school work with them. Learn something knew. Teach them how to Learn New things about nature.

6.Plant some seeds and get them to keep a journal of their plants progress.

7. Ask the kids what they are interested in knowing and search for the answers together.

8. Read a book together

9 Do some Paper mache together - Create

10. Fix something around the house that you have been putting off and get the kids to be your helper. Skills are learned. remember the internet can be your friend in gaining skills

11. Do some cooking together. Make the Meal together. All boys and girls need to learn to do this while they are young.

12. Do the Laundry together. All boys and girls need to learn to do this while they are young.

13. Make sure they have daily chores to do. Teach them to serve

14. Remember that videos with Christian content are available watch them together, make popcorn, have a discussion.

On behalf of Pastor Bob & Pastor Margie, Pastor Steve & Bobbie, the staff and Board - know that we will all get through this together and we will be better because of it. Our prayers are with you!

We are Better Together!

March 18 2020 - 2:08 pm

Dear New Life Family,

As we navigate through this time of uncertainty let us be prayerful for our World, our Country, our Community and our own Church family. Paul shared that we should not worry but bring everything to God in prayer.

Philippians 4:6-7 New International Version (NIV)

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

We have held off sending this email until now as we wanted to send it with all the facts and not just react to the situation. We are following the direction of the Ontario Government as they try to grapple with the difficult times we are faced with. Let us as the church not only obey them but continue to pray for them as they are tasked with an extremely challenging situation and are trying to contain and slow down the spread of this virus.

Effective immediately in keeping with our Government of Ontario COVID-19 directions, all Sunday, midweek and other gatherings will be postponed until further notice.

You may be concerned by this, but this is not permanent. It is the best way to control and slow down the virus from spreading and also it helps keep people from being at risk.

We are working to come up with plans on how to stay connected during this time and it is important that even during this time we stay connected. I would love to tell you we have all the answers today, but this is uncharted waters we are in, but - we are all better together through this!

I would encourage as you continue to walk this road; be faithful to God through it. We may not be able to connect in person but take the time to call someone and chat. Don’t just rely on texting but take the time to call or FaceTime or Skype - use the technology we have to stay connected and not lose hope. Paul over and over in scripture tells us to encourage one another – let’s continue to do that as we walk this road.

I want to thank you as you continue to be faithful in your tithes and missions giving as we continue the work of the ministry. You are welcome to drop off your tithes to the church but we would encourage you to use E-transfer if you are able. At the end of this email will be the instructions for those that have not used e-transfer for their giving.

Later today and as the days unfold we will continue to help with resources for you during this time, as well we are looking at all the options to stay connected with you. I also would encourage you to listen to sermons you have missed on our website or re-listen to a sermon that encouraged you. Please use the resources of RightNow Media that we have available to our church family and if you have not yet used them, let us know and we will get you set up for it.

On behalf of Pastor Bob & Pastor Margie, Pastor Steve & Bobbie, the staff and Board - know that we will all get through this together and we will be better because of it. Our prayers are with you!

Dear Church Family,

I wanted to connect with you all, and let you know that I am so happy with the staff we have and how well they have responded to the Coronavirus situation while I was away. The protocols and procedures are not only to keep you safe, but to help us as whole family weather the storm and come out on the other side stronger and wiser.

This last few days have changed our world, and has caused many to have great fear and worry. I would like to encourage you to be calm - and let’s keep our hearts and minds from living in the worry of the world and instead focus on the Lord.

2 Timothy 1:7

7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Luke 12:25

25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?

As Christians we are not people that live in fear or worry but we live with our trust in the Lord. As we follow the direction of the government and consider the protocols that we have put in place it will require some changes that will require some adjustments for each of us.

We encourage you to pray for our government and leaders as they continue to adjust to the effects this virus is having on our Country and the World. Please contact the office if you need to stay away and/or if you need something - we want to be able to help meet the needs of the family. Also, if you are able to help serve our family during this time, please contact the office and let us know how you are able to help. Let us consider what we can do for the local community in this time. Let us not shrink back out of fear and worry but let us step up and help - we can bring hope to a world that is in chaos, let us comfort and bring compassion to those that are having difficulty with the situation.

I wanted to also let you know that I will be observing the protocol suggested by the government and that we have set in place for those that have been out of the country, so for the next 14 days I will self isolate.

We are praying that this situation will resolve itself quickly, but we will continue to re-evaluate as the situation continues. Please continue to be faithful in prayer for our New Life family, the country and the world.

We are better together and this is how we will get through this - together.

Making a difference together

March 13 2020 - 5:30 pm

Dear New Life family,

I’m sure everyone is aware that the Coronavirus (COVID 19) has been declared a Global Pandemic. Things have changed rapidly over the past few days and as such we are needing to respond to this global crisis.

In Psalm 46, we are reminded that it is God who is our refuge and strength, and our ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore, we should not fear, but have confidence that God is in control and use this opportunity to love our community. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).

So here is how NEW LIFE is responding:

In response to the actions and direction of the government, changes will occur also at New Life Assembly to limit the spread of COVID-19 or other respiratory illnesses and ensure NLA remains a safe place.

  1. We are encouraging all people at risk (older & very young folks plus those with severe underlying health conditions) to stay at home. We are looking at ways of streaming the service so that those isolating themselves can still participate in some way. Also, If you are in this group, please contact the church office to see how we can be of assistance to you. (We will be reviewing our list and reaching out to those we consider at risk.)
  2. Don't come to church if you are feeling sick! Call Ontario Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000
  3. Practice good hand hygiene. Wash/ sanitize your hands regularly/On coming into a new space (like church) / after using the washroom / after touching your face / after blowing your nose / coughing / sneezing / (dispose of the tissues immediately in the garbage please)
  4. Increased cleaning of bathrooms, doorknobs & light switches has been implemented.
  5. The Cafe will be CLOSED
  6. Family Connections meal on March 29 is cancelled
  7. Wednesday family night will start right at 6:15 without the usual 'meet & greet' time. Adults will be in the sanctuary to facilitate appropriate space between people.
  8. We ask that if you have traveled outside of Canada, please self-isolate for 14 days as per the national recommendations.
  9. Lastly, our leadership team will continue to discuss the next steps we need to take if we feel that further action is required. We will keep you posted.

Furthermore, as Christians we need to walk by FAITH and not by FEAR. Let’s take the opportunity and show the love of Jesus to those around us who don’t have the same assurances. Would you join us in prayer for our Government leaders, Hospital staff, First Responders, and for the people in our community and across the world. God is working even when we don’t feel it or see it. He is the Way Maker!
