Influence is all around us. But with so many voices, how do we wisely choose who to listen to? In the same way, we’re called to become influential. But where do we start? In this short series, we’ll learn how dangerously influential the world can be, but also how we can become dangerously influential ourselves.

Influence Is All Around Us
In today’s world, we are constantly surrounded by influence—from social media, pop culture, and even our closest friends—and whether we realize it or not, that influence shapes who we become. Just as there’s a difference between hearing and truly listening, there’s also a difference between merely existing in a world full of influence and intentionally choosing which voices to follow; not all influence is worth our attention. As followers of Jesus, we are called to use discernment—guided by the Holy Spirit and rooted in scriptures like Philippians 4:8—to filter what is true, noble, and praiseworthy so we can live in the world without being shaped by its brokenness.
Resources:
Develop Discernment
Discernment is the inner sense, guided by God’s Holy Spirit, that helps us recognize right from wrong and decide which influences to accept or reject. We develop discernment by asking God for wisdom and reflecting on whether an influence is helpful, pure, and motivates us to grow. Finally, we must form an opinion about the influence and commit to acting on that decision consistently, seeking support from trusted people along the way.

Your Influence is Powerful
As followers of Christ, we are called not only to choose our influences wisely but also to be influential ourselves, using our lives like salt to heal, preserve, and point others to Jesus. Influence doesn’t require fame or a large platform—simple acts of kindness, service, and generosity can make a powerful impact and glorify God. By serving others selflessly and sharing God’s love, we can start making a difference today and join the ongoing movement to transform the world through Jesus.
